OK, for those who keep up-to-date with the main site, I published "Making a Glass Capo for a Fretless Guitar" and explained how it could only work if you replaced the original strings with a new set specifically designed to be flat to the glass capo.

 

I've since restrung the guitar and replaced the old nut with a bone nut. These smell really bad when you cut them with a Dremel and it took me a couple of hours to sand the nut and cut the slots.

I've tuned the guitar to Open G7 tuning and this has been added to "Alternate Tunings for Fretless Guitar"

ok Good stuff! what is the advantage of a glass capo over the 'normal' sliding capo? like this one for example: http://www.amazon.in...r/dp/B0002GODY6

Does it a have different sound? I use normal shubb capos (non sliding ones) on my fretless without problems.

Well the glass capo only works on a glass guitar, or a guitar with a flat fingerboard. But it does work well and slides really easily.

 

I had not seen the roller type before, might have to get one and investigate. Reviews range from very good to complaining it is difficult to move up and down the neck due to the spring tension. I guess some people have fat necks
