Hello to everyone on this board. Nice to see growing interest in fretless guitar. This is to announce I have 2 unfinished Tim Donahue Model fretless guitars that were made when my TD model fretless was in production in Japan ('86-'89). I had planned on finishing them myself, but never got around to it. So I'm making these available to anyone who'd like to do the finishing work to end up with a high-end handmade fretless guitar.

http://www.geocities...essguitars.html

Details:
Both guitars were crafted by Japan's most respected luthier.

Both guitars have beautiful ebony fingerboards, quality no longer available.

Both guitars have truss rods epoxied into the necks. The necks
are like rock and do not move.

Both guitars' woods have nicely aged for 20 years- a vintage charm not found on a new instrument.

LEFT GUITAR:
1.) Solid maple/black walnut/maple (thru-neck);

2.) Solid ebony fingerboard w/brass position markers inlayed on the side. Fingerboard is rounded and finished;

3.) Humbucking pickup and tune-o-matic bridge cavities routed;

4.) Tune-o matic bridge stud screws (brass) installed in bridge cavity;
Ground wire installed;

5.) Electronics cavity routed on the underside (no plastic cover plates needed on front or back of the guitar);

6.) Inlayed black plastic pickguard;

7.) Solid brass headstock/string block

8.) Holes drilled for tuners and string guides (behind bridge);

9.) 22 frets?

10.) Price: $500 US

RIGHT GUITAR:
1.) Solid black walnut (neck & body one complete piece);

2.) Solid ebony fingerboard (unfinished/non-rounded);

3.) Longer fingerboard (24 frets?);

4.) Price: $250 US

Shipping from Japan would probably cost between $50-$100 US, I can confirm if anyone shows serious interest in these guitars.

A finished TD Model can be seen in the bottom photo. This version has MIDI capability, so the hex pickup can be seen between the bridge and humbucker.
Other than that, this is the exact same guitar as the ones for sale above.

Inquiries can be directed to me at:
acceleron2001@yahoo.com

Best To All,
Tim Donahue

Welcome Tim, there's a couple of potentially beautiful guitars there just waiting to blossom. Very tempting. - Jeff

Wow, those instruments or almost instruments look SICK. Huuuummmm????

Oh yes & welcome Tim; your presence has always been part of this Forum. Now people get the real thing.

When will you be performing in the US again? Also, your Planetarium Shows sound like they are incredible. Do you plan on releasing any Audio or Video from these Performances?

I can't buy one but it's very generous for you to make them available at fair prices. I hope all is going well for you. Nice of you to post and I hope you'll occasionally do so again in the future!

Hello To All,

Many thanks- yes, things are going great here.
To answer the questions:

* We now are auditioning players for my China dates;
* The first in a series of planetarium dates is on 11/21 in Hakone, a beautiful mountain resort overlooking Mt. Fuji;
* I myself don't handle recording /videotaping of my performances. They are always recorded, but my label usually retains the rights of release.
* The States- I rarely go back to the USA unless it's to record!

Best To All,
Tim

Tim, if you are out there, how is the progress of the sale going? Just hoping whoever purchases will send some photos of the project. Jeff

For all of you wondering just who has purchased the walnut TD fretless, I confess. Unfortunately, I don't have it in hand as of yet, but hopefully soon. I'll certainly post a pic or three when I do. Keep your collective fingers crossed that I don't do anything stupid.

By the way, I just want to mention how much of a pleasure it has been to deal with Tim. He has answered all of my questions and given helpful advice throughout our discussions. If someone else is ready to take the plunge with the other instrument, to my knowledge it is still available. And if you're worried about the wife complaining about too many instruments or buying a guitar without playing it first, don't fret! Tim will take care of you.

Updates as I have them.

Best Wishes,

Mind's Eye

Believe.
