Looking ahead to a planned future project, I'm wondering about how to deal with truss rod adjustment when a 1/16" titanium sheet is to be epoxied on top an existing rosewood fretboard. (In this case, an inexpensive, beat up Taylor 110).
It seems that the metal would add greatly to the rigidity of the neck, and the neck would become unresponsive to truss rod adjustment.
My plan is to set the truss rod with tensioned strings after removing frets (filling with wood filler to leave marks on the side of the neck) but before epoxying the fingerboard.
Epoxy the fingerboard with slow setting epoxy. Quickly restring, re-tension strings and re-adjust rod while the epoxy is still soft.
No doubt a luthier would have a jig that would figure somehow in the procedure but as a DIY apartment dweller that's not possible for me.
I'd appreciate any advice.
