Hey, has anyone out there heard Tim Donahue's NO TURNING AWAY and ALIEN TALK from the Into The Light album?
OH MY GOD, wailing fretless guitars all over the place!!! How the hell does he keep them all in such perfect tune?????

And I think the 8-bar solo at the beginning of the title track is one of the most beautiful solos ever recordred - and it's fretless!
Can someone here tell me how in the world he keeps it all in tune??? I mean, even the backing tracks are all fretless.

Dazed & Confused..........Rob

I'm tempted to say read Tim's book on fretless instruction - free on the Unfretted main site.

If you follow the reviews section there is an off-site review of Into The Light, that contains the secret.

OK, I'll check out Tim's book. But I noticed he doesn't have any fret markers on any of his guitars, and his intonation is still flawless.
Sometimes it's hard to tell he's even playing fretless, especially on the backing tracks. But if you listen closely, it is all indeed fretless.
This is amazing because Donahue seems to have so much control over his intonation, and go way beyond equal temperment
when he feels like it. Incredible.............it's just amazing to me that anyone would have THAT much control & accuracy,
not to mention Tim's musicality...........Robv

Hey, check out out the Tim Donahue track SKYROCKET from the Into The Light album. HOLY SHIT!
What an absolutely monstrous display of virtuouso fretless playing and unparalled artistry.
He is second to none in my book.

And the jet seems to go right through your head on this track.
Just AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Robv

Also check out TD's "Time To Run" from the Into The Light album,
which is some of the most bad-ass guitar work I've ever heard.
awesome......!!!!!!
