I met Belew two years ago and told him about the DFGF. He told me it was a fantastic instrument and he would ask Ken Parker to build him one. The whole clip is really nice and at the end, min 57 he talks about the Parker Fretless Guitar.

Take the time to see the whole clip, Belew is one of a kind and one of the best in my book!

Yes, I saw that clip once also. Too bad he doesn't use it in that clip. I think Belew isn't playing fretless very much these days or the last 10 years. Parker should bring these fretless guitars on the market. I wonder about the sustain on these graphite boards.

I would also like to try a Parker Fretless! I do own a Fly Parker Deluxe and I really like it.

In this clip he does play fretless guitar (Fender) Minute 37!

I like it a lot. He has a different approach then most fretless players and that I like. Too bad he is not doing much with it nowadays. Also he hasn't used it live very much I think. Never saw a live video of it. Maybe his fretless Parker is inspiring him to do some new fretless stuff in the future.

Totally agree. I really like it and think Gunnar is crazy! Maybe he is Swedish?
Actually Gunnar is a good friend and a top musician! But not liking Belew fretless?

But imagine he was doing this stuff already in 1984! He's just out of this planet! Love his music and he made King Crimson in the 80' 90' and this century one of my all time favorite bands. Fripp is just a Mad Professor and I really like his suff as well but the combination of these two killer guitarists makes it happen!

Hey Chilly, why not convert your fretted Parker guitar to a fretless? I think with these 'glued on top' frets it might be easy, or not?
But then you have bring on some side markers.

That would be a crime! I just love that guitar as it is and I only play fretless one month a year....... just before the Dutch Fretless Festival

I like fretless guitar but for me it is just another tool and not my main guitar.

I do have a Vigier Excalibur sans frets and a double neck I made back in 2007 when I was still young!

I feel like this about most of the so called big guitarists like Metheny , Mclaughlin etc. who played / fiddled / tried fretless
they haven't embraced the fretless guitar as such and aproach it as a guitar with frets without frets :?
and I'm only part swedish , Hombre !

You right for Metheny and Vai (don't know what McLaughlin did on fretless). Because they only use it for a couple of songs and don't make full use of the fretless potential. But Belew has done some great things on fretless. He plays it in his own style and is not concerned so much with what other fretless guitar players do or want to hear. Just as on electric guitar he has his own voice on the instrument. In that aspect he is a big inspiration for me.

I like Belew so if you can point me to some tracks where he plays fretless in a " good" way
I'll listen , I've been wrong before
but so far what I've heard Belew
do on fretless is not up to par

Sorry Michael alias VVV but Adrian Belew is not only a little bit famous but very, very good, creative, an innovator and not really commercial, come on! It's not like he's Top 40!!!
