I thought I might share the occasional picture of my limited cooking skills.

This is egg benedict.

Definitely two lookin' at you, as they say in diners. Good presentation, as they say in the poncy cooking schools.

I'll take a double helping minus the ham.

I usually forget to take a pic on those rare occasions when I bother with the look of what I will soon ingest faster than your dog can inhale the porterhouse off your kitchen counter. (Or the leftover Easter ham not placed high enough, in the case of the Great Pyrenees I grew up with.)

If I'm supposed to take something to a potluck/picnic, I forget to snap a pic until after the second beer, at which point everyone's made the rounds of the table, and it will usually look like your brains after the zombies got in.

-------

Something from late last summer, first course: farmer's market in season tomatoes, fresh made mozzarella from a local fromagerie, and basil from my window garden, olive oil over the top.

Nothing like a real local, organic tomato. (I grew a few of the little bite-size ones, too.) Bellissimo, mangia bella!

Yellow, actually (the basil is green - calibrated your monitor lately?)

Yeah, if it weren't for Berlusconi spoiling my appetite, I'd want to be in Italia right now, per mangiare un piccolo troppo...

But even better!!!

Huevos Rancheros

(Ranch Eggs) is a classic Mexican breakfast dish similar to Huevos motuleños which has become popular throughout much of the Americas.
Huevos rancheros means "eggs ranch-style" or "eggs country-style" in Spanish. The dish traditionally was served at the large mid-morning breakfast, or almuerzo, on rural farms where workers had a much smaller meal at dawn.
The basic version of huevos rancheros consists of corn tortillas fried lightly, and fried eggs with a tomato-chili sauce. Refried beans (frijoles refritos), slices of avocado, fried potatoes, and extra chili peppers are common accompaniments. Scrambled eggs can be used instead of fried eggs.

Where's the fried bread????

Oh, and zero points for the non-humourous placement of the sausage.

Where's the carrot? If you can't have a sausage, you at least need a carrot.

Cornishmen are not allowed to eat carrots.
