OK, who is your hero?

TD, ED, EO?

Or is it a SuperHero?

Batman, Superman, Topless Skateboarding Nun?

I think we should adopt one, but who?

Dave Lister sets the bar high for me.

I've tried to find the movies on DVD. Haven't been able to yet. They were such an amazing combination of cool and cheese.

I'm not allowed heros,

but here's some ideas - I liked the Dean Martin one, Rob!

If I must 'hero status' anyone it would be Sid James. Difficult to find the perfect clip of him for those who've never heard of him - but in the clip above you at least get to experience that laugh

Maybe Drinky Crow too, only just discovered him myself.....

And Al Bundy,

and.....

Nostalgia is an amazing emotion... when I first came to istanbul 22 years ago, the streets were FULL of american cars from the 50's (this was because of some 'development' program i which turkey was given thousands of cars - - - or something like this?) - - - I mean, generally I hate cars (more accurate- I hate pollution and noise and conjested streets), but the sight of all those round old cars on instanbuls streets just made my heart sing!

Coming here again after over 2 decades -- no more old Chevy's, only new Korean and Italian shitboxes... it killed 75% of istanbul's charm!

It's the PC movement - at least in the UK, they shut down any sense of simple fun on the grounds that sex, sexism, sexuality is offensive and dangerous....

Violence however doesn't seem to be anymore...

another hero, Benny Hill - and not the stupid bits where he's running round "presto" that the germans seem to find funny:-

Isn't that so the religious right wing (who still find that sex, sexism, sexuality is offensive and dangerous.....) who run the current world order, can still ensure that there's a healthy dose of gung ho memetics instilled into the current cannon fodder classes - so there's always a healthy batch of poorer folks to send off into hot, dusty places and get shot at for oil profits, in the name of freedom and christianity?

Another hero - Dave Allen....
