One of the fretless "Jasmine" guitars made by Takamine has surfaced in Poole, Dorset, UK. With an e-bay starting price of 75 and a buy now of 150.

The guy in Poole is back, starting price 75, buy now 125 this time. Last time round a single bidder put down 75, and presumably has won the item?

They must surface somewhere.

The American guy has started another at $1, for now.

Like I say, they must surface somewhere.

We have seen ten sales, there may have been more. Who has these instruments?

Compared to total numbers of fretless guitars worldwide they must be a percentage by now. So anyone got one?

I think we know who might be collecting those. That's why he needs so many strings :)

No guitars were harmed during the collection of the information presented in this post.
Can't say the same thing for frets though...

Marvelous!

If you see him ask for a review, or maybe J could buy one and review it?

WHAT!!! - from the guy who advocates taking care of your cash!!!

Why don't you e-mail the sellers, offering a review they can reference for a loan of an instrument (after all we reckon they have plenty).

Ooops, oops, sorry sorry,

Didn't mean to etc..

Secret - I have played a Jasmine and they ain't that good.

On the other hand I've driven bad Fords and good Fords.

As for the seven string - looks nice, that's a maple neck on an ash body, don't know the UK retail but they are $450 in the States, so shipping and tax would make it around 300 quid max, reserve not met yet but there are a few days to go.

I'm afraid my fat fingers don't suit the likes of 7 string spacing.

OK, your forgiven.

Depending on the reserve it could be a quite good buy at around 150

Wouldn't go for it myself, same thoughts about string spacing, but it does give you plenty down the bottom end which sounds so good on a fretless.

Other -ve's; sustainers are not built for 7 strings, neither are any of the add on MIDI systems, RMG / Roland / Axon.

Baritone's rule, you get an extra couple of inches to slide around on.

(If that don't wake Gazzer up, nothing will. --j

The guy in Poole is on for his third, this time the starting price 0.99 not 75 - so that's a leaf out of the American book. Will be interesting to see how it progresses. V

Bidding is up to 256, which is more than I would pay, its a good price, pity the sale might be lost with a high reserve. --j

Yep, unsold. The email from the owner seemed pretty ignorant. I don't think I would have been happy buying from him. I think he had the defret done and realised it was a bit hard to play and thought he had better sell it. But 400 was way OTT as far as I was concerned.

You are right Tim, way overpriced, plus I think the string spacing on a 7 would make fretless playing really difficult. You need the space to intonate chords correctly, as the finger position isn't as natural as it can be with frets around to correct things.

What part of the UK are you located?

I live in Booker on the outskirts of High Wycombe. I work in Ruislip as a salesman for B&O.
The name is Jim BTW, I am used to being called Tim though as it is my Dad's name and some doddery relations always get us confused!
